When I graduated from university, my dad handed me the keys to a shiny 2007 Harley-Davidson® Roadster™ and made me promise we’d take a trip together. That promise turned into a 2,600-kilometer journey from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan—captured in my feature for HOG® Magazine September 2017 issue.

The Journey

We started our ride from Vancouver and crossed through the stunning landscapes of the Rocky Mountains, Banff, Calgary, and endless prairie highways. Along the way, we swapped stories at every stop, explored lookout points, and found ourselves riding straight into a storm without even noticing. My dad, ever the protector, tucked my cameras into his saddlebags and handed me a warm drink to keep me going.

Switching gears (literally), we picked up a Harley-Davidson® Tri Glide® in Calgary for the final stretch. At first, it felt like a joke—me on this big trike—but it turned out to be a total game-changer for comfort, stability, and long-haul riding.

Rediscovering Roots

This trip wasn’t just about the miles; it was about reconnecting. For the first time in years, I got to spend one-on-one time with my dad, learning his hand signals on the road, sharing laughs, and bonding over a mutual love for riding.

Prince Albert might not be the flashiest destination, but it’s where our roots run deep. Pulling up to the house my grandparents built and visiting places from my childhood reminded me why motorcycles are more than just machines—they’re bridges to stories, memories, and connection.

Captured in HOG® Magazine

This story wasn’t just personal—it was about showing the magic of what motorcycles can bring to families. From the freedom of the open road to the inside jokes shared at every stop, riding with my dad was unforgettable.
